Inglis enters facility for treatment of mental health issues

Greg Inglis is receiving treatment to assist with mental health issues, the South Sydney Rabbitohs confirmed.

Inglis, 32, announced his retirement from rugby league last month despite plans to play until the end of the 2020 NRL season.

Just a day after NRL chief executive Todd Greenberg said he was aware of Inglis' struggles, it was confirmed the former Australia and Queensland star was receiving help.

"Rabbitohs and Souths Cares ambassador Greg Inglis has entered a facility to undergo treatment to assist with and support his mental health," South Sydney said in a statement on Friday.

"On behalf of Greg and his family, we ask the media and the public to respect their privacy."

An NRL great, Inglis played 263 games for the Rabbitohs and Melbourne Storm.
