After nine months out with a knee injury, Hull KR's Adam Quinlan made up for lost time with the decisive try against Warrington Wolves.

Dream return for Quinlan as Smith gets up and running against Wolves

Hull KR's Adam Quinlan enjoyed a dream return to Super League as his match-winning try earned coach Tony Smith a 16-14 victory over his former club Warrington Wolves.

Full-back Quinlan had missed nine months with a knee injury but made his mark on his comeback appearance against second-placed Warrington, going over with five minutes to go.

Bryson Goodwin's first-half try ensured Warrington were ahead at the break and though Mose Masoe crossed the line for Hull KR, Josh Charnley's 58th-minute score looked like being enough for Warrington to come away with the win.

Yet Quinlan dotted down in the corner late on and Ryan Shaw added the extras to earn Smith, who was appointed last week having been out of Super League since his eight-year stint at Warrington ended in 2017, a memorable first victory with his new team.

It was a crucial win for the Robins as bottom side London Broncos beat Catalans Dragons 30-12 to make it back-to-back victories.

Rhys Williams crossed for two of their five tries – Jordan Abdull, Elliot Kear and Kieran Dixon scoring the other three – which meant Fouad Yaha's hat-trick for the Dragons came in a losing effort.

The Broncos, Hull KR and Leeds Rhinos now all have 12 points in a tight relegation battle.
