London Broncos boost survival hopes, Salford close gap to Hull FC

London Broncos boosted their hopes of staying in Super League with a 17-4 win over Catalans Dragons on Saturday, while Salford Red Devils won comfortably at Hull FC.

Kieran Dixon scored a try and kicked eight points as bottom club Broncos recorded their ninth win of the campaign, in the process creating a four-way tie at the foot of the table on 18 points.

The capital club are now level with Wakefield Trinity, Huddersfield Giants and Hull Kingston Rovers, though they remain in 12th place on points difference.

Broncos' three rivals in the battle to beat the drop also have a game in hand: Rovers host fellow strugglers Trinity on Sunday while the Giants take on Castleford Tigers.

Alex Walker also crossed for the visitors in Perpignan while Brock Lamb kicked a drop goal. Brayden Wiliame scored the Dragons' only points, going over for a try early in the second half.

As for Salford, they recorded an impressive 44-22 triumph over fourth-place Hull FC, who now lead the Red Devils by just two points in the standings.

The teams were locked together at 16-16 midway through the contest before the visitors moved clear in the second half. Ken Sio, Lee Mossop and Krisnan Inu all touched down twice for Salford, who have appointed Paul Rowley as a coaching consultant to assist boss Ian Watson.

Hull had the chance to climb up to second with a home win, but instead are now looking over their shoulders in the battle to finish in the top five.
