Catalans Dragons and Steve McNamara have agreed to a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2022.

McNamara signs new Catalans Dragons deal

Steve McNamara has signed a new three-year contract with Catalans Dragons.

The former England coach took over the Dragons in 2017 and saved them from relegation with victory over Leigh Centurions in the Million Pound Game.

He guided them to Challenge Cup glory in the subsequent season and will remain with the club until 2022 despite them missing out on the Super League play-offs for a second successive campaign.

"I am delighted to extend my contract with the Dragons. We are a unique club and it is an honour to be the head coach for the next three seasons," McNamara told the Dragons' official website.

"The ambition of the club to improve all areas of our organisation has made this an easy decision for me to accept. I am driven to lead the team to more success after getting our first ever trophy in 2018.

"I along with the rest of the staff will work extremely hard and strive for the improvements that are needed for us to achieve this."
