Mitchell Santner could make his first ODI appearance since last March against India, while Colin de Grandhomme and Tom Latham return.

De Grandhomme, Latham and Santner back in Black Caps squad

Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Latham and Mitchell Santner are back in the New Zealand squad for the first three one-day internationals against India.

All-rounder de Grandhomme and wicketkeeper-batsman Latham were rested for all four limited-overs victories over Sri Lanka, but were among the 14 names included for the start of the series against Virat Kohli's side.

Santner has not played an ODI since facing England last March, but the all-rounder earned a recall after featuring in the Twenty20 win over Sri Lanka at Eden Park last week.

Doug Bracewell is back in a squad which does not include injured duo Todd Astle (knee) and Jimmy Neesham (hamstring).

Astle and Neesham could link up with the Black Caps for the fourth and fifth matches of the series.

The first of five ODIs will be staged in Napier next Wednesday.
