Shakib al Hasan to start his training soon

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan will start his preparation to return back to international cricket in BKSP from September said one of his mentors Nazmul Abedin on Friday.

Shakib, who is serving a one year ban imposed by the ICC after he failed to inform multiple suspicious approaches from a bookmaker named Deepak Agarwal, will end on October 29.

According to Nazmul, Shakib is expected to be in Dhaka by the end of August while he is planning to have a full-fledged training at BKSP from September onwards to get ready for the upcoming season.

Nazmul is considered as one of the earliest coaches of Shakib when he was in BKSP - as the chief coach of cricket. BKSP used to be the only sports institute of the country- during the time Shakib enrolled there as a teenager to learn the game of cricket.

Nazmul, who also worked as BCB's game development manager for many years, recently joined BKSP as the cricket advisor and looked excited to reunite with his old pupil.

"From September, Shakib will start training at BKSP where he will have coaches and trainers available as we are functional as the coaches are all residing within the campus, so we can work with him well," said Nazmul.

"Besides the cricket coaches, coaches from other sports like boxing and athletics will also help him. He will use the gym and all the facilities so he will have everything at his disposal," he further added.

Earlier, Shakib has planned to arrange a training program in Leicestershire, UK but the COVID-19 pandemic situation forced him to drop the plan and carry on preparations at BKSP only.
