TAMIM RETURNS BACK TO TRAINING

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal on Sunday returned back to training as he was seen batting at the academy field of Mirpur in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Tamim took a break from international duties after the dismal show during Sri Lanka tour at the end of July and also in the ICC World Cup 2019.

Tamim, the leading run-scorer in international cricket for Bangladesh, preferred to take a break ahead of the one-off Test match against Afghanistan and T20 tri-nation series- after failing to match up to the mark that the opener batsman usually sets for Bangladesh team.

Bangladesh Board Cricket Board (BCB) nodded positively of the decision as the 30-year-old looked out the form while he also failed to lead the team in winning ways in Sri Lanka.

On his return, Tamim batted more than one hour in the academy field, trying to off the mirage of his bat after the long break.
The opener batsman faced two spinners-- Elias Sunny and Suhrawadi Shuvo-- throughout his first training session.

Though Tamim returned to full fill his commitments, the opener avoided any media interaction on his first day in training after the break.

Earlier, the opener was heavily criticized despite sitting third for his team in the global event of cricket with 235 runs after he failed to generate the performance which was expected from him. The batsman maintained just 29.38 average playing eight matches in the tournament.

Tamim failed not only individually but also to lead the team in the post-World Cup tour in Sri Lanka as the Tamim-led-team whitewashed in the three-match one-day series.

Tamim is likely to play opening two rounds of National Cricket League, the country's traditional first-class competition. NCL is scheduled from October.
