BCB’S CRITICISM MIGHT HAVE MOTIVATED SHAKIB: ZAHEER KHAN

Former Indian left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan believes that the so-called rift between Shakib Al Hasan and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ahead of the World Cup played might have motivated him to dazzle in the showpiece event.

Before the World Cup BCB arranged a preparation camp for the cricketers though Shakib skipped it as he was playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The absence of Shakib in the preparation camp was heavily criticized then while it only doubled when he missed the official photo-shoot of the World Cup jersey.

Shakib was publicly criticized by BCB president Nazmul Hasan for missing the photo shoot that was attended every other member of the squad.

It went to such an extent that Shakib had to officially reply for his absence to BCB after he was asked officially to do so.

“ Yes, It can ( clash with the board can inspire ) in terms of taking more responsibility and knowing that you have a point to prove, you push that extra bit,’’ Zaheer was quoted in a show while analyzing his performance.

‘’You need some kind of motivation and some kind of inspiration. So, it can come from the criticism as well,’’ he said.

‘’We have seen in that past that a player can take that criticism as an inspiration, and convert that energy into his training, his planning and come up with good performances,” he added.
