MLB postseason 2018: Manny Machado fined $10K after running into Jesus Aguilar, report says

MLB fined Dodgers shortstop Manny Machado $10,000 following his antics during Milwaukee's 2-1 loss in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series, according to the Los Angeles Times, citing an unidentified source.

The fine comes after Machado made a controversial play in the 10th inning of Tuesday's game. He appeared to kick Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar's right foot while running out a ground ball. Both benches cleared following the controversy and Milwaukee's Christian Yelich had some choice words directed at Machado following the game

"He has a history of those types of incidents," Yelich told reporters. "One time is an accident. Over and over and over again ... it's a dirty play. It's a dirty play by a dirty player. That's what he is.

"I have a lot of respect for him as a player, but you can't respect someone who plays the game like that. It has no place in our game."

Machado appeared to apologize to Aguilar during the game and explained to reporters what he was trying to do on the play.

"I was trying to get over him and hit his foot," Machado said on why he collided with Aguilar. "If that's dirty, that's dirty. I don't know. Call it what you want."
