Astros, Alex Bregman agree to 6-year, $100 million extension, report says


Alex Bregman is remaining with the Astros for the foreseeable future.

Houston and the 24-year-old infielder have agreed to a six-year, $100 million extension, according to a report from Houston station FOX26.

The deal covers Bregman’s three years of arbitration eligibility and the following two seasons, the report says.

Bregman slashed .286/.394/.532 and hit a league-leading 51 doubles in 157 games for the Astros last season. He also belted 31 home runs, tallied 103 RBIs and made his first All-Star team.

Bregman made his MLB debut in 2016 and helped the Astros win the World Series one season later.
