MLB hot stove: Mets reportedly bring back RHP Jeurys Familia on 3-year deal

The allure of the Big Apple has brought free-agent reliever Jeurys Familia back to Mets on a three-year, $30 million deal, according to multiple reports.

New York sent Familia to the Athletics at the trade deadline last season. Prior to the trade, he had a 2.88 ERA, 17 saves and a 4-4 record. He finished the year with an 8-6 record and 3.13 ERA in 70 appearances with the Mets and A’s.

Familia, 29, is expected to serve in the setup role for new closer Edwin Diaz, who the Mets acquired from the Mariners in a trade earlier this month.

Familia had spent his entire seven-year career with the Mets before his brief stint in Oakland. His best season came in 2016, when he recorded 51 saves and made the All-Star team.
