Astros appear to be out on re-signing Cy Young award-winner Dallas Keuchel

It looks like the Astros won't be re-signing starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel.

General manager Jeff Luhnow allued to that fact Thursday.

"At this point, we're so close to opening day, we're going to start with the guys we have in camp here and go from there," Luhnow said on Astroline, via the Houston Chronicle.

The Astros have reportedly been in contact with Keuchel discussing the possibility in bringing him back in recent weeks, but the team did not want to go long term on a deal which Keuchel wants.

Houston offered Keuchel a one-year, $17.9 million qualifying offer during the offseason but the 2015 American League Cy Young award winner turned it down.

Keuchel's suitors appear to be dwindling just two weeks from the start of the season as the Phillies have reportedly shown some interest in a short-term deal. But other than the Astros, not many teams have popped up in the rumor mill.

Houston looks ready to go with a rotation featuring Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole at the top while a combination of Collin McHugh, Wade Miley, Brad Peacock and Framber Valdez will fill out the bottom.
