The White Sox appear to be serious about trying to build a better team next season.

According to The Athletic, Chicago has acquired starting pitcher Ivan Nova from the Pirates.

According to Fancred Sports, the Pirates will receive a young pitcher and international slot money in return. The deal is pending reviews of medical records.

Nova went 9-9 with a 4.19 ERA for the Pirates last season.

He has one year remaining on the three-year, $26 million deal he signed with the Pirates in 2017.

Nova is 78-64 with a 4.26 ERA in his career. He has thrown at least 160 innings in each of the last three years. He is four years removed from Tommy John surgery.
