MLB trade rumors: Mets discussing acquiring J.T. Realmuto in 3-team deal that would include Yankees

The Mets and Yankees may be close to making a trade.

Both New York teams and the Marlins are discussing a three-team deal that would send catcher J.T. Realmuto to the Mets, according to a report from The Athletic, which cites unidentified league sources.

There’s a “real possibility” Mets starter Noah Syndergaard could end up heading to the Yankees in the trade, according to SNY.

The Mets and Yankees have been in consistent talks since Brodie Van Wagenen was named general manager of the Mets in late October, according to The Athletic. The teams have not completed a deal that involved major leaguers since 2004.

The Mets have reportedly been “pushing hard” to acquire J.T. Realmuto. The 27-year-old registered a .277/.340/.484 slash line and made his first All-Star team in 2018. He also hit 21 home runs and tallied 74 RBIs.

The Mets officially acquired infielder Robinson Cano and hard-throwing closer Edwin Diaz from the Mariners earlier this month in exchange for five players, including outfielder Jay Bruce and top prospects Jarred Kelenic and Justin Dunn.
